September 22 is National Voter Registration Day, a nonpartisan, civic holiday celebrating our democracy. Nearly 3 million Americans have registered to vote on the holiday since its establishment in 2012. To recognize the holiday and strengthen our congregation’s commitment to helping our fellow Pennsylvanians vote this fall, Beth David is hosting a special program on Zoom. Members of nearby Reform congregations have been invited to join us. The observance of the “Days of Awe” includes reflection and learning, which are the goals of this program.

Our featured speaker will be Lauren Cristella, Chief Advancement Officer for Committee of Seventy, a renowned, nonpartisan organization dedicated to promoting civic engagement and participation. Among her duties at Committee of Seventy, Lauren is responsible for the organization’s trailblazing WeVote initiative. The purpose of the WeVote campaign is to inspire citizens in the Greater Philadelphia region and across the Commonwealth to vote, to inform them on how to vote safely and effectively, and to engage them with nonpartisan information and resources about the choices they’ll make at the ballot box.

Lauren is going to discuss the research about voting behavior that led Committee of Seventy to create WeVote. She’ll also separate fact from fiction when it comes to the warnings about voting by mail, and provide us with the latest information about the ever-changing guidelines for voting and working at the polls this fall.
