Mishloach Manot Orders Runs Through February 28
The Mishloach Manot Project is the essence of Purim. The Megillah, the Book of Esther, tells us to celebrate this holiday by sharing food with both friends and neighbors, and with the poor. Mishloach manot is the term for gifts to our neighbors. But this exceptional project will fulfill both mitzvot at once! With our monetary contributions, we fulfill the Purim mitzvah of Matanot L’evyonim, gifts of food to those among us who are hungry.
How does it work? Sisterhood will create gifts of treats for each Beth David family. Some of us will bake hamentashen, some will gather other sweets. All the bags will be neatly packed for pick-up, or delivery. Do we welcome your help? ABSOLUTELY. To volunteer as you wish, contact Cheryl at firstname.lastname@example.org
On the order form below you will find guidelines for giving to the Mishloach Manot Project. As is only natural for this unusually tipsy holiday, we’ve given the categories foolish and funny titles. When we report on the project to the community, we will let the community know, not who donated in each category, but how many of us donated in each category. Your gift amount will be anonymous.
The Mishloach Manot Project is Sisterhood’s most ambitious fundraiser for 2020. It is our hope that with your generous support, we will underwrite the project’s modest costs, give a significant donation of money to a regional food-insecurity organization, and, with all the funds remaining, offer financial support for Sisterhood and Synagogue-wide initiatives.
