On December 14, 2012, 20 children and 6 adults were senselessly murdered at Sandy Hook Elementary School. In the decade since this heartbreaking tragedy, 15,000 Pennsylvanians have died by gun violence. Their families and loved ones have missed them at holidays, celebrations, and birthdays. There are too many empty chairs at tables.
To mark the 10th anniversary of Sandy Hook, CeaseFirePA is holding a statewide series of vigils, Empty Chairs: 10 Years After Sandy Hook. Temple Beth Am Israel in Penn Valley will be the host of the Montgomery County vigil. The event will take place Wednesday, December 14. 7:30 – 8:30 p.m. at Beth Am Israel. Our synagogue is among several houses of worship co-sponsoring the event. We hope you will join us to honor the memories of those we’ve lost and demand an end to the violence.
