Volunteers Needed.
Each Family Promise (formerly IHN) hosting week requires numerous volunteers to host at Beth David two or three homeless families. During the week, our guests arrive each evening and depart the following morning. The key volunteer roles are:
• setting up the private bedrooms
• providing dinner and eating with the guests each night
• sleeping over at Beth David in a private room
• shopping for groceries for breakfast and lunches
• laundering sheets and towels at the end of the week
• breaking down the private bedrooms
• donating miscellaneous supplies from time to time
Beth David families have found this to be a meaningful and fun family activity. You can do this mitzvah at Beth David, the grocery store, or in your own home laundry room. Many B’nai Mitzvah students have supported Family Promise for their Mitzvah project.
