- Beth David/Sunday October 6, 11:45am, Healing Service for a Year of Pain: As we approach the first anniversary of the October 7 attacks, we join together in our sanctuary for poetry, music, and prayers of healing for all those who were wounded or whose lives have been upended since October 7, for our broken world, and for ourselves in this new year.
- Sunday Oct 6 at. 3:00pm, We Will Dance Again – A Film Tribute Through Poetry, Music, and Dance for Our Loved Ones Held Hostage – The Weitzman of American Jewish History, 101 South Independence Mall East, Philadelphia. The Nova Music Festival was supposed to be a celebration of life, love, and music for thousands of young people but became one of the first targets when Hamas launched the deadliest terror attack in Israel’s history. WE WILL DANCE AGAIN is told through the eyes of more than a dozen survivors, many of whom videotaped their experiences as the massacre unfolded. The film weaves together eyewitness accounts from over a dozen survivors, along with footage captured by both the victims and Hamas. REGISTER HERE TO ATTEND.
- Beth David/Monday, October 7, 10:00am to 5:00pm Open Sanctuary: During the day on Monday, October 7, Beth David’s sanctuary will be open for silent prayer or meditation. Please come to the office to check in when you arrive.
- Monday, October 7, Remember October 7, 7:30pm/Adath Israel, 250 N Highland Ave, Merion Station: The Israeli American Council, in conjunction with Beth David and other local synagogues will commemorate the October 7th massacre; the day on which the most Jews were murdered since the Holocaust. We will remember and never forget the fallen and the murdered, the heroes who defended with their lives and are no longer with us. Our own Cantor Goodlev will lead the singing of Hatikvah. Preregistration is a must. Bags are subject to search, and all adults will be asked to show their government-issued photo ID at check-in.

The organizers of this program are creating a video commemorating the horrific events of October 7th, and they need your help. - Monday, October 7, 7:00pm Community Virtual Prayer Vigil: Join the Jewish Federation of Greater Philadelphia and the Board of Rabbis for an online memorial service to commemorate the Oct. 7 massacre. The program will include prayer, mourning and messages of hope. Preregistration is required.
- Tuesday, October 8, 8:00pm – 10:00pm, A Virtual Live Screening of Screams Before Silence. In commemoration of the one-year anniversary of the Oct. 7th Hamas attack on Israel – Sheryl Sandberg, Hillel Foundation, JCC Association of North America, the National Council of Jewish Women and Union for Reform Judaism invite you a special screening of Screams Before Silence – to bear witness to what really happened on that horrific day. Ths virtual live screening will be followed by an exclusive discussion and Q&A moderated by Sheryl Sandberg, former COO of Meta and founder of LeanIn.org, with: Adam Lehman, President and CEO of Hillel Foundation, Jennifer Mamlet; Acting President and CEO of JCC Association of N. America, Rabbi Rick Jacobs, President of Union for Reform Judaism, Sheila Katz, CEO of National Council of Jewish Women

- Beth David/Saturday October 12, 4:45pm – 5:30pm Yizkor/Memorial Service for 10/7 Victims: Immediately following the Yom Kippur Yizkor service, we shift from personal mourning to our communal mourning. This service will be dedicated specifically to remembering those who were killed in the October 7th attack, as well as hostages who were kidnapped that day and subsequently murdered.
- Beth David/Thursday, October 24, 9:30-10:30am Simchat Torah Yizkor (Memorial) Service and Torah Study:At Beth David or Zoom. Simchat Torah is the holiday when we begin a new cycle of reading the Torah, and in the morning we also say memorial prayers for those we have lost. This year at Simchat Torah Yizkor, in addition to remembering our own loved ones, we will study a text in memory of those killed in the October 7th attack, which took place on Simchat Torah last year.
- Sunday, October 27, 1:30pm, One Year Later: Commemorating October 7, Har Zion, 1500 Hagys Ford Rd, Penn Valley: Beth David is proud to sponsor the Jewish Federation’s commemoration event on October 27 at Har Zion Temple to remember this solemn day and the countless lives lost. Join us to honor the victims of the Oct. 7 massacre in Israel, share messages of hope and resilience and unite as a community. Your presence and participation will make a meaningful difference. Why October 27? Israel had declared that the Hamas attack and massacre will be remembered annually on the 24th day of the Hebrew month, Tishrei. In alignment with Israel’s initial remembrance date – which has since been changed – and in observance of Shabbat, we will commemorate this year on Oct. 27. Advance registration is required by Monday, Oct. 21.
